So many have walked through life looking for meaning, looking for purpose, looking for what will fill that void. And in their wisdom came up with alternatives, to fill this void, and even created religion for this purpose. How tragic it will be for one to go through an entire lifetime chasing something be it religion, influence, wealth or ambition only to find out it was all useless.
Today i will like us consider the reason God placed this void in the heart of man. Why does man have a longing, wanting and a desire for more.
Considering Ecclesiastes 3:11 He (God) has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end…
Eternity in the human heart here points to the insatiability of the human heart, the heart of man can take in everything that created, and God intentionally created an abundance of beauty that will speak to the heart of man but essentially never satisfy.
Even growing up naturally has taught us that we desired many basic things only to get them and then realize they weren’t all we thought we ever needed.
The only one who fills all eternity is God, which is what he placed in the heart of man, God alone qualifies to bring satisfaction to man. The very name omnipresent mean being every were, the ability to totally fill leaving no space.
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
This scripture brings more light, showing us only righteousness can fill, and digging more into scripture we understand the name Jehovah-Tsidkenu translates The Lord our righteousness. Implying righteousness is God, from Matthew 5:6 it shows clearly righteousness was implied as an external not internal, just as food is something external you eat to abate hunger, so it has nothing to do with self.
Delving deeper even as a matured believer hunger for greater depth of glory is a very natural indicator of divine life, its simply a call to experience a higher realm of Gods fullness. Sometimes it takes a while for the pangs of hunger to bite hard, some people begin to feel as if they have left the presence, its not so, it’s just growth, at this point God needs you to press more into him, cause your capacity has increased, so what would naturally satisfies is no longer satisfactory.
Scripture says as we behold a level of glory we are transformed into that level of glory, so if you refuse to go higher, that level you are stops blessing you cause you are already all that level of glory can give you hence the need to press for more
This simple truth has caused many to get tired and bored of certain Christian assemblies because it seemed what used to be s blessing has stopped being a blessing, it has also affected relationships were certain people begin to discontent because the level of glory that attracted has not grown since then, I’ve observed this from relationships between married people, to mentors and mentee’s even to pastors and members.
The absence of spiritual hunger signifies something is wrong, either death or a serious disorder that will eventually lead to death.
The bible says “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Proverbs 8:17.
Remain a blessing…….
